Bandits Are Only Hungry; Pay Them N25000 – Cleric Begs Buhari
His Eminence, Dr Samuel Chukwuemeka Kanu-Uche, Prelate of Methodist Church Nigeria, has advised President Muhammadu Buhari to pay N25,000 monthly stipends to repentant members of the Boko Haram terrorist group and bandits.
Hunger and poverty, according to the clergyman, drove them to embrace terr*r and banditry.
He believes that providing such stipends would deter these young people from engaging in criminal activity.
Kanu-Uche spoke on Monday, urging the Federal Government not to underestimate the influence of controversial Islamic cleric Sheikh Ahmad Gumi in the fight against banditry.
“Who are the people who are collecting ransom for bandits?” If the government engages Gumi positively rather than criticizing him, he will be able to bring about a solution.
You don’t dismiss him by saying he’s a bad person. If he goes to the bush and the bandits have faith in him, the government can talk to them.
Let me tell you, politicians are taking advantage of these boys. I’m telling you to paraphrase me. They will not kidnap if you hire them and pay them N25,000 monthly. “All they care about is food,” he explained.
