It’s been a couple weeks since Burna Boy dropped his first single of the year, “Kilometre.”

Kilometre” is his first single since his last album release of Twice As Tall, although he’s done some guest features within the past few months.

The new song is no doubt a jam, and it’s already bursting all the speakers.

It might not be a contender for song of the year just yet, but this one is definitely gonna bang all through the summer — people are loving it!

But that does not mean people haven’t raised concerns about the style of the song.

In fact, quite a lot of people on social media have been wondering why Burna Boy decided to do a song and just repeat the words “kilome kilome kilome kilome” on the hook.

Some people have said it’s just the way Afrobeats is, but some critics are chalking it up to the fact that Burna is trying to copy Wizkid‘s repetitive style to make a big hit.

Wizkid who, of recent is known for repetition on his hooks, has made quite a number of hits by just saying the same words over and over again.

He did it on “Soco” in 2018. He did it on “Joro,” too. And much recently on his Made in Lagos, he did it on “Reckless” where he kept repeating “dem inna inna inna inna inna.”

Both “Soco” and “Joro” have been big hits and in fact, “Joro” is the biggest song from the year 2019. Wizkid have definitely found that formula useful for him, and has stuck with it.

Can that now be what Burna Boy is trying to experiment? Well, what do you think guys?
